Tootles Blog......Hello Website!!

I just wanted to thank all of you for following the Clipping for a Cause blog over the past year or so! It has been unbelievable to witness this ministry growing in such a short amount of time! To think, we started out in a church in Lawrenceville, GA, and have expanded to other chapters across the U.S. and all the way up to Maine! Although we won't be putting updates on this blog anymore, we would LOVE for you to keep up with us on our new website at: www.clippingforacauseinc.org. Spread the word and encourage others to visit the site and see what we are all about! You can contact us at heather@clippingforacauseinc.org. Also, make sure you "like" us on Facebook here Again, thank you for your support and encouragement. Each of you have been a blessing in some way to Clipping for a Cause and we are so grateful!

2 Reciepts. 2 Savings of $316. Coincidence? I Think Not

I just had to share this with you. Pictured are two back-to-back receipts that we have received at checkout for Clipping for a Cause. Both have a savings equal to $316 (and some change). To me, out of all of the numbers the savings could have equaled, this is just not a coincidence.
John 3:16 states "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." These receipts are symbolic of the work that He continues to do through this ministry daily!

Clipping for a Cause: Coupons to be Clipped Tonight at our Weekly Clipping Party!

This week, we found great deals at Walmart, Kroger and Publix. For those who don't know about us yet, we are a non-profit organization that originally formed as a ministry at First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. We take donated coupon inserts, and each Wednesday night at 6pm, we clip and shop for items that will be free or nearly free in the coming week! We then divide up donations and deliver them to different organizations and charities throughout Gwinnett County. To date, we have donated over 14,600 items! We have saved over $9,000 and only spent a little over $1,000! If you are local, you are more than welcome to attend even if you have never picked up a pair of scissors and clipped a coupon in your life!

Now, onto the deals. The following list only shows coupons that will be clipped out of inserts. However, many of these items include printable coupons as well. Purex 3 In 1 Sheets: $2 Overage at Walmart!

Have any of you been brave enough to test out the new Walmart coupon policy lately? They supposedly allow overage, but I am going to have to see it to believe it! For some reason, I've never had any luck with grocery shopping or coupon usage at Walmart, so let's hope this one works!

If you can find them in stock, the Purex 3 in 1 sheets (travel size) are priced at $0.98. Using the $3/1 Purex 3 in 1 Sheets coupon from 2/20/11 Red Plum, that means they will pay YOU $2 for each! Thanks, Publix Coupon Queen!

2000 Flushes Only $1 at Walgreens!

Right now at Walgreens, they have 2000 Flushes priced BOGO at $3.99 through 3/26. (If they aren't marked, they will ring up for this price at the register). Print off two of the following coupons to get them for only $1! What a deal! Thanks, ClipShopShare!

Saved $316.09, Spent $5.75 Out Of Pocket at Publix!!

Last night I went to pickup our weekly Publix order for the food bank. Lets just say it was a new record! All of my favorite peeps were working last night and about 6 of them gathered around the register to watch each coupon scan and see that total come down! Our ministry couldn't do it without the Publix off of Fence Road in Dacula. Hands down, they have the best customer service, friendliest employees, and, not to mention, they want statistics each time we walk in the store about how much we have spent, saved, and donated to those in need! They are just as passionate about serving community members in need. It's hard to see everything pictured: nearly 30 boxes of oatmeal, 58 bags of Wacky Mac pasta, 34 packages of Maybelline eyeliner, 11 bags of Halls, 4 bags of Mahatma rice, 3 boxes of Yakisoba noodles, and 3 pkgs of Schick razors. Total saved: $316.09..Total Spent: $5.75!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carrie said it best last week at our weekly clipping party when she talked about the analogy of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and how He is also taking these donated coupons and feeding thousands with very little out of pocket too! Even being the person who was physically there last night at the store to witness the total at checkout..I am STILL in disbelief that this pile of items will be donated for little over $5!!
You can see all of the coupon matchups in this post. The other thing that really helped the total was the $10/$100 Kroger coupon that Karla donated to the ministry! We are so lucky that our store accepts competitor coupons!!

Best Ways to Donate for Free or Pocket Change This Week: Publix and Walmart

Here is a list of the coupons we will be clipping tonight at our weekly Clipping for a Cause meeting at First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. The past few weeks have been unbelievable! Not only is this a growing ministry with new clippers and shoppers, but the amount of donated coupon inserts in our box has been overwhelming! If it wasn't for donated coupons, we wouldn't have a ministry! We found that Publix and Walmart provided the best ways to donate to local food banks or other charities this week. Here are the coupon matchups. Thanks to I Heart Publix and Southern Savers for the matchups!

Maybelline Money Maker! (Thanks Kellie)

Kellie emailed me to let me know of a great money maker on Maybelline eyeliner currently at Publix! At most stores, you can find this as low as $2.49 each. Stack the Publix Green Advantage Flyer Coupon for $2/1 Maybelline Cosmetic with the $1/1 Maybelline Eyeshadow or Liner coupon from 2/6/11 Red Plum and YOU could get paid up to .50 for each! Can't beat that..and you'll be "perty" without spending a dime!!

Love This: CVS-The Moneymaker Giving Trip!

One of the blogs I follow, Saving and Giving, had a great post up yesterday on her moneymaking trip to CVS. The bonus: all of the items will be donated AND not one dime came out of her pocket! Please follow this link to see the coupon matchups for the above items. Thanks Jennifer!

Cheap Wacky Mac and Fab Laundry Detergent!

Carrie and Karla emailed me this morning with two great deals to stock up on or donate if the items aren't something you need or use! The first deal is for Wacky Mac pasta. Use the .40/1 coupon from 1/30 Smart Source and, if your store doubles, pay .19 for each bag! (This price is based on our local Publix which has them priced at .99 a bag.) The other deal is for Fab laundry detergent. Currently, this is BOGO at Publix for $3.99. When you use the $1.00/2 coupon from yesterday's Smart Source, it makes each bottle only $1.50 for 32 loads! OR.. if you have a filing system for your coupons saved the Smart Source insert from 10/3/2010, there is a .50/1 coupon making them only $1 each! That's a deal! If you are local and familiar with Family Promise of Gwinnett, they are completely out of laundry detergent. This would be a great way for you to add something to your cart this week for someone else in need!

303 Items. A Donation of $70. Saved: $309.00, Spent $68.77!

Two weeks ago, I was invited to my aunt's company, United Supply in Norcross, Georgia, to teach some of her co-workers how to start couponing. I enjoyed every single second. To be able to "pay-it-forward" for something that my neighbor taught me only 14 months ago is a feeling unlike any other! Before I left, they handed me a $70 donation for Clipping for a Cause that they had collected in the office. One of the employees asked for a picture and breakdown of what their monetary donation purchased, and as you can see, pictures are worth a thousand words!!!

Total Spent Out of Pocket: $68.77
Total Savings: $309.00

Items:

20 boxes of Buitoni Fettucini
40 cans of Hunt's tomato sauce
84 jars of baby food
7 pks of Schick Razors (2 ct)
6 pks of Yakisoba Noodles
21 cans of Progresso soup
13 boxes of Brownie mix
40 cans of Spaghetti-O's
2 bags of Mahatma Rice
50 cans of Carnation milk
20 rolls of Mentos (we made 50 cents off of each one!)

"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy." Proverbs 31:20

I LOVE the Italian Days sale at Publix! I look forward to stocking up on these particular items every year..at very little cost! Although it is hard to tell in the picture, I purchased between 50-60 canned goods yesterday! One of the best deals was 20 cans of the Hunt's tomato sauce for only $1.80 total! I hardly ever do it, but had to make an exception and go to two different stores yesterday. Who knew that the toilet paper being the penny item could get me so excited..my how times have changed!! I didn't do the coupon matchups for you this time, because most of the items pictured are included in the coupon matchups I did in this post a few days ago! Of course, I did have to add a few non-coupony things to the cart, like bananas, milk, celery, carrots, oh and that bag of Valentine's conversation hearts for .50 that caught my eye last minute! ;)

4,048 Items Collected and Distributed During Yesterday's 1st Annual "Love Thy Neighbor" Valentine's Food Drive!!!!

(Above: Preparing to take the second trip of the day to Lawrenceville Co-op and first trip to the Quinn House in Lawrenceville)

(Below: James, husband of Clipping for a Cause member, volunteered his time (and truck!) to make deliveries for us. Couldn't have done it without his help! Above: Two of the vehicles leaving to make deliveries! They were packed full with over 1,000 items.)

(Above: Lee C., ministry member, got her neighborhood involved and collected over 400 items! Left: 5-2 Ministry of Grayson got involved and collected an amazing 1,334 items that were distributed to the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op!!!)

(Right: My friend Michelle was a Godsend yesterday! She got out of the car to pick up and count the items during the mobile drive in several neighborhoods! Below: A picture of the back of Lee's car during their pickups that were delivered to the North Gwinnett Co-op!)

(Below Left: A volunteer sorting and counting items at the Lawrenceville Co-op. Over 1,000 items were delivered here alone. Below right: Our spare room at the house was temporarily converted to a interim food bank!)

4,048 items donated to the needy in one day has been one of very few things in my lifetime that has left me speechless (for those who know me, I kinda like to talk!) To say the least, our first annual "Love Thy Neighbor" Valentine's Food Drive" was an overwhelming success. Clipping for a Cause cannot begin to thank each one of you who participated in this effort. Your passion for blessing others-- neighbors who could very well live right next door--was overwhelming. It was an amazing thing to witness His work in bringing the whole community together yesterday.
To me, some of the greatest moments about this event were the emails I received with updates throughout the drive. "We have 10 neighborhoods signed up to participate on our end!" "1,334 items were dropped off at the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op today!" "The donation box is completely full at Wells and pouring out onto the floor!" "We are on our second car load to the Lawrenceville Co-op!" You could feel and hear the excitement, even without seeing that person face to face. In a world where the chaos never seems to cease and you cannot turn on the 5 o'clock news without hearing about all of the bad, yesterday seemed to magically erase all of the negative.
I am without words. Unfortunately, there aren't any that exist that could possibly begin to articulate my gratitude. Thank you for spreading the love you have for your neighbor and turning this effort into something more than we could have ever imagined. The very essence of this Valentine's Day Food Drive was summed up in one word: LOVE.

The Cashier Ran Out of Paper Today!!!

This was a great problem to have at Publix today.

Just thought you might like to see how long the receipt was for the below post. Keep in mind, we had to fold it once and stand on a ladder in order for it to fit in the picture.

Saved $365.73, Spent $49.63!!!

WOW. UNBELIEVABLE. BLESSING. Those are just a few of the words that come to mind when I see this picture with everything laid out from today's trip to Publix. They called telling me my order was ready at customer service and I knew that this week was going to be a record. Not only did we have more coupon inserts donated than ever before by church members, but we received a few monetary donations AND more clippers joined the ministry this past week! Being in awe is an understatement. Thank you for following this blog and effort. It is not an individual effort and it takes people like you spreading the word and using your own coupons to "clip for a cause" in order to pay it forward.
The coupon matchups for the items pictured are in the below post about the coupons we clipped at our meeting on Feb. 2nd.
But, here is a breakdown of everything purchased:
(28) Krusteaz Muffins
(6) Yakisoba Noodles
(13) Mt. Olive Pickles
(20) Jolly Time Popcorn
(13) Dove Deodorant
(48) Carefree Pantiliners
(26) Knorr Pasta Sides
(46) Campbell's Soup
(2) Maalox
(23) Bandaids
(17) Rotel Tomatoes
(19) Mahatma Rice

Publix And Their Coupon Policy

There has been a lot of chatter on various blogs and websites throughout the past few months about Publix and some of their stores changing the way they handle coupons. This information was sent to me by Lee C. (reader and member of Clipping for a Cause), and it was something that all of the cashiers at her local Sugar Hill store received a copy of in a meeting about coupons. To me, everything seems pretty similar to how my favorite Publix on Fence Road in Dacula handles coupons. If you notice changes at your local store, leave a comment below this post!

Coupons Clipped by Clipping for a Cause on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd! (Publix and Target!)

Here are the best ways we found to donate for free or pocket change that we found this week at Publix and Target. We found a few to add to last week's list at Kroger, but the deals we found ended Saturday, so I won't post them since those particular sales are over. Placing the order for the 61 Reach toothbrushes last week at Kroger was the most exciting purchase we've made there in a while!! We ended up saving over $100 and only spending a few dollars in tax!
This week, there was a record number of coupon inserts donated! Before I even begin to type anything else about the coupons we clipped, I just want to thank the members of this ministry who go unnoticed...our coupon angels! These are the people who religiously donate their coupon inserts to the ministry each week and without them, we wouldn't exist!
I think back to our first meetings in March when many times, it was just me in the room. I felt in my heart that I had been called to lead this effort, and and that no matter what, I had to be obedient to that calling. Even if it was just me and a few coupons to clip, those 5-10 items were more than the food banks had the day before, right?!
To think how far it's come! With anywhere up to 15 people in the room clipping on Wednesday nights and a large box overflowing with coupons to clip..we continue to be in awe of His work in this growing ministry!
So..this week I am combining the lists of coupons we clipped Wednesday night into one post. When we placed our Publix order for items to be donated, it totaled a little over 300!!!

Valentine's Day "Love Thy Neighbor" Drive Fast Approaching!

We are just days away from our first annual "Love Thy Neighbor" Valentine's Day Food Drive!
The response to help has been an overwhelming blessing! Several local neighborhoods have signed up to participate in the mobile drive that day. Neighbors have been asked to place one bag of non-perishables outside of their doors to be picked up and delivered for them. What an easy way to help the needy..and so much appreciated!

Wells Real Estate Funds of Norcross has even placed a large box in their main lobby so that employees can donate items for the next week or so! So far, just their company alone has collected over 100 items!

5-2 Ministry of Grayson, GA (a ministry who also uses coupons and "pocket change" to purchase items for the needy) is also on board to help! All of the items collected by 5-2 will be going directly to the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op that day. In one day, this food bank serves up to 90 families. Needless to say, since the holidays, their shelves have become bare at times. However, their faith is strong, and they urge people like you to add a few extra items to your cart to donate.

So far, over 600 items have been collected! (Not all items are pictured) Remember, even if you aren't local, you can still help! "Show the love" and organize your own drive. Even if you just email your closest friends and family members, and collect 20 items, that is 20 more items than the food banks had before!

Our goal is still to collect 3,000 items that day! They will then be divided and distributed beween various organizations throughout Gwinnett County: Villa Lodge and Suites of Lawrenceville, The Quinn House, Family Promise of Gwinnett, and Lawrenceville Co-op.

For more information on how you can help or become involved with this effort, please email me!

Great Ways to Donate for Free Or Pocket Change at: Publix (Through Wednesday or Thursday)

Thank you to I Heart Publix for the following matchups! Remember, these are great items to not only add to your own stockpile, but to donate to others if you don't need them! If you haven't started a filing system yet for your coupons, make a goal in 2011 to get more organized! While it takes some time in the beginning, the rewards are WELL worth it! Everyone is different, but for mine, I just have a filing cabinet with different sections labeled, "Smart Source," "Red Plum," "General Mills," "P&G" and "Store Coupons." I have a piece of paper in between each week of inserts dividing them. It's so easy to flip that way to the week you need, and this way, it's out of sight and not taking up a whole section of your room!
