The Lawrenceville Co-op

What We Do for Our Clients: We assist those in need by providing food, limited emergency financial assistance for utilities and prescription drugs. We also offer assistance by connecting those in need with various helping sources in the community. We seek to help clients identify ways to achieve self-sufficiency.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food." Matthew 25:35

The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry

The SE Gwinnett Co-Op is a non-profit organization created to support those in our local community in need of food and financial assistance with utilities and medication. This ministry is operated 100% through donations and is staffed by volunteers.

As the pain of a strained economy has put many in our community in a financially vulnerable position, the Co-op has experienced a sharp increase in the number client visits over the past six months. Each month we serve 400-500 families, giving approximately 27,000 cans of food and $18.000 in financial assistance. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

  1. Heather,

I got chills as I read your story! The amazing thing is my story is so similar! I am working on teaching men and women in the churches surrounding my home so they too can donate items they get FREE & Cheap each week.

I have started posting CVS & WAGS deals on my blog since Michelle does such a great job with Publix! My mission is to encourage others to become such awesome couponers that they have the desire to share it with others! I am excited about joining you for this fabulous journey we are one.

    Best Regards,

  2. I just wanted to also mention that not only are humans suffering during this time but, due to the same reasons, so are the pets. Animal shelters across the nation are being flooded due to owners not having the funds to care for them anymore and the numbers of dogs and cats being euthanized is rising every year.

It may not seem like much but the rescues and shelters could use any pet food, treats, toys, blankets and even old newspapers that you can spare.

Heather, this is such an amazing and needed service that you are providing - thank you!! I would love to see you add pets to your list of those that you are trying to help. Good luck!

"A righteous man cares for the needs of his animals..." (Proverbs 12:10)

  3. Thank you so much to both of you for your kind words of encouragement. Glenda..I had a second to look over your blog and love it! What a wonderful thing you are doing. I didn't happen to notice if you are in Georgia or not, but if so, I hope we could work together on donating Publix, Walgreens and CVS items to the organizations. Tonya, I really, really appreciate what you added about the animals. I completely agree with you and while I didn't purposely leave them out of the picture, since I just started, I feel like donating to 3 different organizations will keep me really busy for right now! It is definitely something I will keep in mind for the future, because as you know, there are always awesome deals on dog and cat food, etc that could be donated as well!

  4. I'm in Gwinnett County too and also donate to the Lawrenceville Co-Cop as well! The church that my MOPS group meets at (HMUMC in Dacula) just started a food pantry, so our group has been trying to help stock it with many of us into couponing. Thank you for highlighting an important part of couponing in your article on is so helpful for us SAHMs to "contribute" to our family's income, but we also need to give back to others as well.

  5. I think it is awesome what you are doing and I will be looking into helping our local town, thanks for all the encouragement. Larisa @
